Duration

Killucan Community Services Centre currently offers the QQI Level 6 Major Award in Early Childhood Care and Education part time.

Courses are provided evening times and usually include two Saturdays per module. The programme is designed so that learners can complete modules at their own pace and to accommodate work and home needs.

Each module costs a maximum €225.00

Payment is on a module by module basis as explained below. Learners are not requested to pay for all 7 modules upfront.

A deposit of €50.00 is required before the module commence. It is non-refundable unless the course is cancelled by Killucan Area Services CLG. Cheque and Money Orders are to be made payable to Killucan Area Services. The remaining balance will be paid for in installments over the duration of each module.

Tutors

All tutors on this programme are qualified in their specific fields to a minimum of degree level (Level 8). Our tutors also have practical experience in their individual fields along with experience and qualifications in adult training and development.

Tutoring Methodologies

A variety of methods and approaches are used including: Practical demonstrations, Oral presentations / interviews, individual tutorial support, assignments and projects, work experience, discussions and debates, role play and attendance by specialist guest speakers.

The QQI Level 6 Major Award in Early Childhood Care and Education consists of 120 credits.

There are seven modules each worth 15 credits (105 in total) and the remaining 15 credits are usually made up from learners completing at least two modules at Level 5. There are five mandatory modules and the remaining are taken from a specific a list of optional modules. The programme modules offered are as follows:

Modules marked with an * are optional. All other unmarked modules are mandatory.

You must complete all of the mandatory modules plus optional modules to the value of 30 credits to achieve your full QQI Level 6 Major Award.
