The sole criterion for qualification as a mature applicant is age. You are required to be over 23 on 1st January of the calendar year of application. Applications should be made through the CAO in the usual way.

Course Content PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide graduates with the skills to work as actors in theatre, film and television. Coursework includes skills classes, workshops, masterclasses from industry professionals, and performances in the Institute’s Black Box theatre. Students are introduced to the main acting genres, learning vocal and movement skills and characterisation. Cultural and Performance Studies will connect students with cultural and historical backgrounds.

Comment SPECIAL FEATURES:
The acting programme has partnered with Debrecen University in Hungary where our acting students normally go for two weeks of masterclasses in voice, movement and acting.

QUICK FACT:
Leaving Certificate Mathematics is not an entry requirement for this course.
Careers or Further Progression GRADUATE DESTINATIONS:
IT Sligo graduates pursue careers in acting, directing, facilitation, production and education. Our graduates have also become playwrights and have founded theatre companies.

FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES:
Level 7 students can progress to the final year in Level 8 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree after which they can progress to Masters and PhD in the discipline.
