Hide-This programme utilises the educational resources provided by the School of Business and the knowledge found at the Innovation Value Institute (IVI) - a research centre within the university - to respond to the need for educational offerings in the management and governance of both established IT systems and new digital technologies.
Over the years, IVI has built up a wealth of expertise on what constitutes the essential management and governance difficulties facing digital technologies today and how these challenges can be met by working with leading industry partners in Ireland and abroad.
The guiding philosophy for this course is based on the idea that work, processes, and the systemic characteristics of intra- and inter-organisational activities and connections are inextricably linked with IT or digital technology, and cannot be separated from them. This perspective emphasises the systemic relationships, interdependencies and work context. In this socio-technical view, business and IT are intertwined, and work and business processes that are supported by IT are viewed as one.
This highly renowned program is altered annually due to the quick speed of IT innovation, and its worth is recognised in the fact that it has been shortlisted for the Irish Postgraduate Course of the Year Awards in two categories for both 2018 and 2019.
The programme is intensive and fast-paced, bringing students on a high growth learning experience across the 12 months of the programme. Modules are delivered over two semesters (September - May) with the Business Research Project/Placement Project conducted between May and August. The programme will generally be delivered through lectures, presentations and intensive workshops, typically in blocks of two full days every two weeks, followed by less structured supervision contact over the third (summer) semester.

Hide-Students graduating from this programme will have a distinctive and career defining capability. They are afforded a unique opportunity to explore and address current critical IT-Enabled Innovation challenges - learning from the lessons of many leading global organisations. The programme contributes to the career development needs of current and future IT executives in both public and private sector organisations. The teaching material takes a broad, cross-sectoral and international approach.
This programme also offers students the opportunity to work with leading companies either as a consultant, through a business consulting project or some students will complete an industry placement. The success of this course is reflected in a recent survey we conducted which showed 100% of respondents in full-time employment, with over 80% of these in managerial roles. Some of the roles our graduates fill includes Business Analyst, Process and Governance Co-coordinator, Marketing Executive, Director, Senior IT Project Manager, Games Development Advisor and Sales Executive.
This course also provides graduates with the tools to continue their professional development long after they graduate through a specially designed Career Planning and Development module.
