Learners should be aware, however, that safety goggles/glasses, boots, gloves, welding shield (automatic type if one prefers) and overalls/workshop coat are required to participate in this programme. Please note that these items are not provided by LIT.
An adequate level of English is also required to participate in this course for Health & Safety reasons.
There are only six spaces available on this course, so early registration is advised to avoid disappointment.

Course Content |
Aims
Upon completion of this programme, learners will be able to operate a TIG plant and its parameters. It aims to give an introduction to the basics of TIG welding, welding procedures, tungsten selection, Plant settings, machine set up, welding of several joints using different materials. |
Subjects Taught |
Welding of mild steel plate, stainless steel plate, aluminium plate of varied thickness – 1.6mm, 2.0mm, 3.0mm to yield Fillet, Butt, Corner and Lap joints. Tungsten selection 1.6mm, 2.4mm, thoriated or zircroniated. General introduction into welding procedures & technology, setting up of welding equipment in terms of plant parameters and machine settings. Tig welding of light material using pulse mode. May or may not be introduced to pipe (depending on time & one’s ability). |

Continuous assessment throughout the 10 weeks – no examination. |
