Holders of the Level 7 BSc in Health and Leisure (Sports Development Stream), or an approved equivalent qualification, should apply to IT Tralee. |
| Mature Applicants |
The Institute welcomes applications from persons who will be 23 years of age and over on the 1st of January of the proposed year of entry and who wish to be admitted as a mature student. The Institute reserves a minimum of 5% of all places for mature applicants. |

In March of each year, MTU welcomes applications for add-on degree and honours degree programmes, with a commencement date of the following September.
The application process is open for one month, from early March to the first week in April each year (this date changes slightly due to the Easter holidays, but it is always within the first week in April). |

The Honours Degree programme - Sports Development has modules relevant to advancing sport in society. Students will be equipped to engage in comprehensive planning and provision of community sport and recreation opportunities, from fundamental to high performance levels. Their specialism enables them to research, implement and evaluate sports development policy, programmes and practices, to facilitate physical activity provision throughout the life stages. This includes, in particular, populations which may not have equity of access to physical activity, sport and recreation opportunities. For example: Older adult populations, females, ethnic minorities and those with special needs. Analysis and understanding of the community and voluntary sector provides an integral element of the focus of this specialism.
