Duration This programme will be delivered in a blended format part-time from September 2019 to May 2020. The majority of content will be delivered online, however, students will be required to attend a number of workshops over the duration of the programme.

Students will be required to undertake a 12 week work placement, however students who are already in employment or have previously worked in a relevant industry may gain credits for the work placement module through recognition of prior learning.
Course Fee Fees do not apply to applicants who meet the criteria under the Springboard+ initiative (see page 6).

Fee paying applicants: €2,610.
Entry Requirements Applicants must hold a national craft qualification or equivalent qualification in a related area.

The Institute’s policy in relation to recognition of prior learning (RPL) also applies (see below).

Course Content This course is designed for persons who had previously worked in the technical national craft area or for those who want to pursue a career in mechanical and electronic (mechatronics) engineering and need to develop their knowledge and skills. The course combines the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering technology with knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits to design, develop, test and manufacture electrical and computer-controlled mechanical systems.

Graduates who have successfully completed this programme may progress onto the following full-time NFQ level 7 awards, gaining relevant subject exemptions:
• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering or
