• Participants should have a minimum of five years relevant professional experience. However, all applicants will be assessed on a case-by-case basis so that in certain exceptional cases applicants who do not have the relevant qualification may be considered.
• Applicants whose first language is not English must also demonstrate English language proficiency of IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0 in each element), or equivalent.

The Master of Engineering Management draws on resources from engineering, business and behavioural sciences in a programme designed to bridge the divide between engineering and management. It provides students an opportunity to broaden their horizons outside specialist technical areas, which enables them to make significant contributions to their companies.

Participants will gain a deep understanding of the world of engineering management by covering a wide range of business topics, from cost analysis to finance and corporate strategy.
Participants will acquire conceptual and practical skills that will enable them to operate at the highest level in the global knowledge economy, drawing on the engineering, business and human sciences aspects of the programme.
Our students are strongly motivated by career ambitions. The programme provides an opportunity to widen horizons outside specialist technical areas many of our students experience career advancement either during the programme or after completion.

Course Description
The MEM, established in 1967, is one of Ireland's most successful and highly sought after taught post graduate programmes in engineering management. This Masters is responsible for fast tracking participant’s careers, drawing on resources from engineering, business and behavioural sciences in a programme which bridges the divide between engineering and management.

Vision & Values Statement
Designed for professionals with at least five years of industry experience and a background in engineering, technology, science or mathematics, this two year part-time programme is for individuals with the ambition to progress to senior management and leadership roles in global engineering and technology enterprises.

We aim to develop technically oriented leaders and therefore encourage our students to be critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, to communicate in the language of business and move from thinking tactically to thinking strategically, while always cognisant of the economic, environmental and social implications of their actions.

The part-time structure of the programme allows participants continue in employment while undertaking their studies. As a result, the nature of the learning environment is highly collaborative and experiential, meaning students are able to quickly apply their newly acquired skills in a live working environment and to have the opportunity to reflect on this in the classroom.

Through the discussion based classroom environment, there is a high degree of learning from peers across different industry sectors and organisation types. We seek to develop an active learning approach through lectures, seminars, workshops and projects. There is extensive use of case studies and business simulations. There is a strong orientation towards team work and collaborative industry based research assignments.

-Argue articulately and persuasively using multiple forms of communication, to a range of audiences both specialist and non-specialist, senior and junior, with a view to disseminating knowledge and facilitating debate and effective decision making in organizations and wider society.
-Assess academic and practitioner research related to engineering management in order to support problem solving and decision making processes, to pursue life-long learning and to facilitate continuous professional development.
-Demonstrate the ability to undertake the senior leadership responsibilities and management of diverse teams across a range of engineering organisations and sectors.
-Develop decision analysis, problem solving, inductive and deductive reasoning skills in both quantitative and qualitative contexts.
-Justify decisions, incorporating ethical, social and commercial principles.
-Relate expertise in the principles of engineering management and business organization to a wide range of sectors, incorporating the economic, environmental and social considerations relevant to engineering management practice.
-Synthesise technical and business knowledge and skills in the design, implementation and management of complex engineering systems.
