Foundation level mathematics is accepted as one of the five subjects required for entry to those programmes where mathematics is not a requirement.

Foundation Level Irish
Foundation level Irish at F3 level will meet the minimum language requirement. No points will be awarded.

Maths Entry Exam 2023
SETU is delighted to confirm that the ‘second chance’ maths entry exam will continue again in 2023.
The purpose of this exam is to provide applicants with a second chance opportunity to achieve the minimum maths entry requirements. The examination will follow the standard format based on the existing leaving certificate ordinary level paper. Attaining a qualifying standard in the SETU maths exam does not in itself guarantee a place on any course at SETU. The cut off points and normal eligibility criteria will still apply. CAO offers are subject to available places post Round 1. Date of the maths exam for 2023 to be confirmed.

Entry requirements – Ordinary Bachelor Degree (NFQ Level 7 and Higher Certificate (NFQ Level 6)
The LCVP link module can also be used in place of a fifth Leaving Certificate subject and will be accepted as meeting the five subject eligibility requirement for entry to ordinary bachelor degree and higher certificate programmes.

Mature student applicants are not required to meet the normal minimum entry requirements but a place will only be offered to those applicants who have a reasonable prospect of completing their chosen course. Mature student applicants are advised to provide as much information as possible on previous qualifications and experience.

Where to apply
All students entering a NEW course, should apply to the online application system by logging onto www.susi.ie this includes students who are completing a Level 6/7 course and progressing with their students to a Level 7/8.

Students who are awarded Maintenance Grants will have the payments made to them directly by SUSI into the bank account designated by the student.

Be sure to complete any action well in advance of closing dates. You should avoid making an application close to a closing date. No extensions to closing dates will be allowed and all application fees are non-refundable.

LATE APPLICATIONS
Late Applications are those which are received after 5pm on 1 February 2023. The closing date for late applications is 5pm on 1 May 2023, subject to the restrictions listed on page 3 of the 2023 CAO Handbook. The online facility for late applications opens on the 6 March 2023 at 12:00 noon - a fee of €60 applies.

Exceptional Late Applications (Exception to the timetable)
The exceptional closing date of 22 July at 5pm applies only to applicants who are registered as an undergraduate student on 1 May 2023 in any year in any one of the participating HEIs (subject to the exclusions listed below). In order to avail of the Exceptional Late Application facility you must have entered the HEI through the CAO system. This is an exceptional late closing date and all steps must be completed by 5pm on 22 July. No changes may be made after this date.

If you did not enter your current course through the CAO system, you must first contact the Admissions Office of the HEI to which you wish to apply and they will inform you if you may submit an application direct to the institution.

Exclusions:
You may submit a late application only for entry to courses other than your existing course. If you wish to repeat the year in the same course you must arrange this within your HEI.

Mary Immaculate College Limerick, Marino Institute of Education, Trinity College Dublin, University of Limerick, Maynooth University have special procedures in place in the case of current or previous students who wish to apply for entry to another course in the same HEI. Such applicants must contact their Admissions Office to determine the application procedure. However, if you are a student in another HEI and you wish to apply to any of these five HEIs, you should apply through CAO.

Social care professionals provide vital support, advocacy and care to some of the most vulnerable and marginalised groups in society including: people with disabilities, children and families at risk, asylum seekers, people with addiction, mental health issues and the elderly.

The course provides graduates with the expertise to work across this diverse sector and includes a 12 week placement in a social care setting in both second and third year (400 hours each year).
