This course provides training for learners who wish to follow a career in Science. Through this course you can develop skills and competencies in the preparation, use and maintenance of laboratory equipment to perform a range of laboratory procedures.
Is This Course Right For You?
This course provides an introduction to the world of science and covers a variety of subjects related to laboratory and physical sciences. It is suitable for learners who wish to train for employment as a laboratory assistant. The course will also equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to access science based degree programmes in third level institutions.
What Will You Study?
The course focuses on a range of science related subjects. Practical laboratory sessions will form an integral part of the programme. A minimum of 10 days’ work placement must be completed.

Entry Requirements |
Leaving Certificate with five O6 grades (or five passes pre 2017) or equivalent is the standard entry requirement for Level 5 courses. Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4 Award are also acceptable on the majority of Level 5 courses.
Some courses have subject specific requirements and these will be noted on relevant course pages.
A QQI Level 5 award or equivalent in a relevant subject area is the standard entry requirement for Level 6 Advanced Certificate courses. |
