Applicants will normally have a Bachelor’s degree (level 7 or above) in any discipline or a Certificate in Legal Studies (minimum level 6) form a recognised third-level institution. In the alternative, applicants should have two years’ experience in a workplace in which law features prominently (legal secretary/paralegal/executive, civil and public service, the legal department of a bank or insurance company, a member of An Garda Síochána or social worker). Applicants with other experience will be considered on a case by case basis and an interview may be required for all applicants.

Hide-The BA Ord, is a level 7 Degree in Law. Students take nine modules over three years, including all 8 subjects examined by the Law Society in their entrance examination. It provides students with a firm grounding in the basic skills necessary to enter the legal profession and also equips them with a broad range of transferrable skills of benefit to a range of businesses. Our lecturers are highly skilled professionals, many of whom have significant experience as legal practitioners. Students learn how to find, interpret and apply legal materials, and to identify the legal rules relevant to individuals, state institutions and bodies corporate in a variety of personal, regulatory and commercial situations.
Learning Outcome
Students will gain the ability to recognise and apply legal principles in a variety of factual contexts.

In year one, students take Core Legal Skills, Contract Law and Criminal Law.
In year two, students take Tort, Property and Constitutional Law.
In year three, students take Company, Equity and European Union Law. |

Examinations / Assessments
Assessment is by way of a mix of continuing assessment and examination. Examinations are held once per year in May. |

Hide-The BA Ord offers a path-way to career advancement in the civil and public service, banking, insurance and other related industries. Former students have also sat and passed the Law Society entrance exams and moved onto a career as a solicitor. Following completion of the BA Ord, students may continue to the part-time LLB at TU Dublin. Students taking this route have qualified as Barristers or advanced their careers in business, the public sector, non-governmental organisations or An Garda Síochána.
