3 years part-time.
Two evenings per week, 6 Saturday's per year.
Timetable
Students attend two evenings per week during the academic year on each of the three years of the programme. There are no classes on Friday evenings. Tutorials are held six times per academic year on Saturdays. A timetable is available from law@dit.ie

Hide-Possess a Bachelor’s degree (level 7 or higher) in any discipline or hold a Certificate in Legal Studies (minimum NQAI level 6) from a recognised third-level institution or have at least two years of relevant whole-time legal experience in a workplace in which law features prominently (e.g as a legal secretary or executive, as an employee in the civil or public service, in the legal department of a bank or insurance company, as a garda or social worker). For the purpose of establishing eligibility, an interview may be required.

Course Content |
Description
An ordinary degree in law, covering the ‘core’ law subjects.
Learning Outcome
Students will gain the ability to recognise and apply legal principles in a variety of factual contexts. |
Subjects Taught |
New Year 1 students must take Core Legal Skills, Contract Law & Criminal Law. Not permitted to take any other modules.
Current Year 2 students must take Torts, Property & Constitutional Law. Not permitted to take any other modules.
Current Year 3 students must take Company, Equity and EU Law. Not permitted to take any other modules. |
Assessment Method |
Assessment is by a mix of essays, research projects and end-of-term exams. |
Careers or Further Progression |
Career Opportunities
Students have sat and passed the entrance exams to the Law Society and progressed onto a career as a solicitor, while others have used the BA (Ordinary) to find or advance a career in business, the public sector, non-governmental organisations or the Gardai.
Progression
Upon completion of the part-time BA Ordinary in Law it is possible to apply for our part-time Bachelor of Laws (LLB). |
