Hide-Aims
To provide the learner with the opportunity to develop their independent leadership and project management skills through the study, analysis and resolution of a work-based problem.
Having successfully completed this module, the learner will be able to:
• Select and research a topic.
• Specify a problem in terms of project objectives and outcomes.
• Plan, undertake and manage a project within a specified timeframe using limited resources.
• Apply the appropriate tools, methods, techniques and technologies in the solution of the problem and the management of the project.
• Make comprehensive recommendations if further work is necessary on the project or to improve the solution.
• Write a project report on the specification, conduct and findings of the project, and make a final presentation on project progress and conclusions.
|
Subjects Taught |
The project will consist of the study, analysis and resolution of a work based problem. The problem resolution should have the employer’s support and fall within the existing expertise of the student. It is intended that the project provides the student with the opportunity to apply many of the skills acquired over the duration of the programme. The project also provides the student with work-based learning that demands a rational coherent approach to problem resolution. |
Assessment Method |
The final assessment will be by a panel of academic staff. The marks will be divided into 20% for the presentations and 80% for the written reports. It is necessary to pass both elements to achieve an award in the module. |
