Course Fee In general, there are two levels of fees payable. EU students from EU countries including Ireland pay a subsidised level of fees for both taught courses and research programmes. Tuition fees for students from outside the EU are not subsidised and are thus somewhat higher than for EU students.

Entry Requirements A B.A. in English or related discipline: normally a first class honours degree result or equivalent. Applicants are advised to contact the Department to discuss their research topic before submitting an application. For international students whose first language is not English, an English language exam certificate showing IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) is required.

Course Content For PhD programmes
Candidates take 50 credits over three years. This is comprised of GSA1, GSA2, GSA3, EN841, EN842, EN851, EN852, EN861, EN862 plus at least one other module from the list of optional modules.

For MLitt programmes
Students must take a minimum of 10 credits in taught modules (at least 5 in generic/transferable modules and at least 5 in subject specific/advanced specialist modules) from the Structured PhD programme.
