Course Fee In general, there are two levels of fees payable. EU students from EU countries including Ireland pay a subsidised level of fees for both taught courses and research programmes. Tuition fees for students from outside the EU are not subsidised and are thus somewhat higher than for EU students.

Entry Requirements A third level qualification in any subject or combination. Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.

Comment Philosophy
The Philosophy Department’s particular strengths in the history of Philosophy and its expertise in the hermeneutical and phenomenological traditions provide an excellent supportive environment for postgraduate student research in Philosophy. Most philosophical traditions and themes are present in the curriculum including: Medieval, Renaissance, Modern, and Contemporary Continental approaches.

Subjects Taught The programme will involve 8 hours of lectures and one tutorial per week in year one and seven hours of lectures and one tutorial hour per week in year two.
Careers or Further Progression Increasingly, philosophy graduates are being hired by large corporations, e.g. in roles such as management consultancy, as people who can approach problems from a new perspective. Philosophy graduates are valued for their quick intelligence, their ability to reason clearly and independently and their ability to take an overview on the problem or situation confronting them.
