Induction for the 2022/2023 academic year takes place (online via Zoom) on Saturday 10th September from 930am to 1pm. In advance, you will be required to review Pre Induction reading material, available to you on www.aitflexiblelearning.ie.
During Induction, you will be given the opportunity to:
Meet your programme lecturers, programme co-ordinator and students
Overview of the programme handbook, programme’s modules, assessments and delivery timetable
Introduction to Athlone IT’s operating systems including MS Office, Zoom, Moodle etc
Outline of the learning supports available to you during the programme

Plus 2 Saturdays per semester Online (9 am – 1 pm).
For online programmes, lectures will be delivered online and recordings of lectures will be available to view in the student’s own time.

Leaving Certificate – Grade H5 at higher level in two subjects, plus Grade O6 at ordinary level in four other subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish)

The programme is designed for those interested in Irish Law and legal studies who wish to develop their general knowledge of the basic concepts of Law.
The purpose of this programme is to enable learners to develop the skills required for engaging in critical analysis of laws and legal problem solving and to develop the skills and values necessary for legal professional practice, such as ethical values relevant to legal practice, and legal advocacy skills. The programme will also provide opportunities for students to develop the graduate attributes that are considered necessary for professional life in the legal profession.

Careers or Further Progression |
Graduates from the Honours Degree commonly choose to apply for postgraduate study at Blackhall Place in order to qualify as a solicitor, or, at the Kings Inn in order to qualify as a barrister. Upon successful completion graduates are exempt from the Law Society’s Preliminary examination. This degree is also approved by the Honorable Society of Kings Inns and graduates are eligible to sit the entrance examination to the Barrister at Law Degree Programme. |
