Course Fee In general, there are two levels of fees payable. EU students from EU countries including Ireland pay a subsidised level of fees for both taught courses and research programmes. Tuition fees for students from outside the EU are not subsidised and are thus somewhat higher than for EU students.

Entry Requirements A Primary Degree in which Mathematical Physics or an equivalent form a substantial component. Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.

Minimum English language requirements:
• IELTS: 6.5 minimum overall score
• TOEFL (Paper based test): 585
• TOEFL (Internet based test): 95
• PTE (Pearson): 62

Comment The Department of Mathematical Physics at Maynooth has a long and distinguished tradition in research. The Department offers high quality education in theoretical physics and the associated mathematics from Higher Diploma to Postdoctoral level and hosts an active community of PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.
Course Content

Expand+Students take 60 credits of Mathematical Physics from the level 4 and level 3 modules. At least half the credits must be taken at level 4. All module choices are subject to approval by the course director or head of department.

Careers or Further Progression The course provides a solid foundation in Theoretical Physics/Applied Mathematics for students who wish to pursue careers in science, engineering, commerce and technology. Graduates gain employment in a wide range of occupations including research, teaching, actuary, banking, software development, computational physics and computer modelling/simulation.
