A full QQI FET/FETAC Level 5 or 6 major award will have a minimum credit value of 120.
Component awards, or achievement of less than 120 credits, do not constitute a full award.
All QQI FET/FETAC Level 5 and Level 6 awards will be scored using the best 120 credits to deliver a maximum of 390 points regardless of whether they were achieved before or after the introduction of CAS. The scoring process is outlined on the CAO website at www.CAO.ie

The sole criterion for qualification as a mature applicant is age. You are required to be over 23 on 1st January of the calendar year of application. Applications should be made through the CAO in the usual way.

Course Content PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION:
This programme is unique in Ireland, offering tuition to Level 8 in the linked fields of acting/performance and theatre design. The design strand is linked to the Abbey Theatre, giving students access to rehearsals, technical departments, work placements and backstage. Locally, the course benefits from its relationship with the Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, The Model Arts Centre and the Hawk’s Well Theatre.

Year One: Modules include Acting, Theatre Design, Voice and Movement, Culture, Performance and Representation, Digital Media, Performance Analysis and Directing, giving students an overview of all areas of the performing arts....

Comment SPECIAL FEATURES:
Students are encouraged to take up short work placements in their third year. This allows them to create industry contacts and gain first-hand professional experience. We also have special links with institutes in Slovakia and Hungary.

QUICK FACT:
Leaving Certificate Mathematics is not an entry requirement for this course.
Careers or Further Progression GRADUATE DESTINATIONS:
Graduates work as actors, designers, teachers, facilitators, and in many related fields for theatre, film and TV, in the performing arts and creative industries.

Our graduates are working with RTE, Netflix and blockbuster programmes such as Game of Thrones.

FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES:
Graduates can progress to a Level 9 Masters in Arts, an MPhil in Theatre and Performance and then to a Level 10 PhD.
