Hide-What are my career opportunities
Pharmaceutical industries have traditionally only required analytical science graduates specifically with laboratory skills for laboratory analyst roles. However, a new skillset is now additionally required for graduates who hold a strong scientific knowledge with additional knowledge of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain and logistics, and Project Management and Quality Management Systems. These skills need to be supported by the ability to research and analyse data and present and communicate findings. This Level 8 in Pharmaceutical Operations will allow progression to level 8 for those who have completed the level 7 programme and a route to employment in the pharmaceutical sector.
The minimum entry requirements for the programme are a Level 7 Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Management & Practice, Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science, Biotechnology or related area which must include prior study of Microbiology and/or Chemistry.
The programme is designed and delivered by experienced academics and industry professionals to ensure graduates acquire the skills and knowledge that the pharmaceutical industry currently requires. The Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Technology module will involve practicals at NIBRT (National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training) to gain knowledge of current manufacturing technologies used in the sector.
Graduates of the Level 8 may progress to Level 9 and/or Level 10 qualifications in this cognate area.
