We work in partnership with Letterkenny Institute of Technology to deliver the BSc (Hons) Early Childhood Care, Health and Education Top Up for those who already hold a Level 5 Qualification in Early Years. Entry onto the degree programme will be at Year 3 of the four-year programme.
Students will develop the skills necessary to assimilate an understanding of the complex and diverse nature of the subject, as well as more general skills which will be widely transferable.
Students will become familiar with the Republic of Ireland curriculum developments and implement Aistear: the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework and Síolta, the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood in their placement, which can be in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.

Assessment Method |
50% Coursework; 50% Exam. There will be a variety of assessment methods, written assignments, presentations, practical activity, assessment on placement. |
Work Placement |
Work placement provides students with an opportunity to learn from experience through supervised practice and provides the student with opportunities for observation and engagement in needs assessment, early childhood curriculum planning and implementation.
As placement is an integral part of your qualification a self-declaration of current health status is implicit as part of the overall risk assessment process. |

You can progress to any of the following: Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE); Nursing; Social Work; Educational Psychology; Masters in Early Years.
