2 semesters part-time/blended.
The course is designed to be delivered part-time over one or two semesters.
If delivered over one semester (15 weeks) it consists of two evenings (6pm - 10pm) and one full day from 9am - 6pm (typically a Saturday).
Alternatively, learners taking the programme over two semesters may do so by completing two modules per semester – schedule to be confirmed with the Faculty. |

Hide-Applicants who have completed their secondary education, and are applying on the basis of their Leaving Certificate results, are required to have obtained a minimum of five subjects at grade O6/H7, to include English or Irish, and a grade of O6/H7/F2 or above in mathematics. Candidates with equivalent grades from other awards will also be considered. Mature learners, over 23 may also apply for consideration.
For Certificate programmes, the following applicants will be considered:
Candidates who seek the skills, knowledge, competencies and experience to fulfill the increased need for in-house video production capabilities to SMEs.
Candidates who wish to become in-house video content production specialists within their companies or who wish to provide these services to clients on a freelance basis.
Candidates may wish to pursue further study and may use this learning experience as an access pathway to do so.

Through the programme's four modules, Writing for Screen, Storytelling for Screen, Presentation and TV Studio Basics and Screen Production, you will learn the principles of storytelling for screen, presenting skills including TV studio basics, followed by the full range of corporate and commercial content production skills. First you’ll learn how to develop your content ideas, then how to prep those ideas through pre-production, and through producing, directing, camera and sound skills how to produce those ideas. Finally you’ll bring your content together through editing and post-production. This is all done through your own learner-generated commercial or corporate video production project.You will learn the principles of storytelling for screen, presenting skills including TV studio basics, followed by the full range of corporate and commercial content production skills of idea development, filming prep and pre-production, production (directing, camera and sound recording) and post-production and editing, through a learner-generated commercial or corporate video production project.

Course Details
The aim of the Certificate in Screen Media Production for Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is to equip learners with skills to meet the video production needs of SMEs either to allow in-house team members to upskill to fulfil the now vital function of content production and video communication within the company or to allow learners to upskill in this area and become an SME's in-house content producer. Where SMEs need to engage the services of an all-service commercial production company for large-scale productions, this programme will allow an in-house team member to work on an equal knowledge footing with such a supplier to maximise the SME’s budget and make the most of the creativity and experience of the supplier for the SME.
