ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIRMENTS: There are no formal academic entry requirements but previous experience working / volunteering with local communities would be of benefit but not necessary.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Hide-The aim of this programme is to provide the participants with the skills for effective participation in local development and governance with a view towards improving community engagement in policymaking. This will be completed in two parts: The first section will give the participants a broader understanding of local structures in Ireland in a national and European context. The second part will give participants an improved perspective on the diversity of approaches to local development and engagement.

The aim of this programme is to provide the participants with the skills for effective participation in local development and governance with a view towards improving community engagement in policymaking.
The course was created following on from recent developments around the creation of Public Participation Networks (PPNs) and the growing need for community consultation there was a recognised need for upskilling in both Local Authorities and Community Organisations around understanding local government structures, governance issues and a need to develop skills around community engagement.

What are the career prospects?
