Course Delivery
This module is co-delivered with the full time BSc in Veterinary Nursing programme so timetables are interdependent.
The lectures are online with practical classes on campus. The labs will require on-site attendance for most of the semester but will be online for the first two weeks due to the current Covid situation. |

Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of a BSc in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) which is registerable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland.
Applicants with other qualifications of relevance and suitable experience will be assessed using the DkIT Recognised Prior Learning process. |

The 10-credit part-time programme focuses on developing knowledge and skills in small animal emergency and critical care for veterinary nurses. It was identified in response to skills needs identified in internal and external surveys.
This course consists of one 10-credit module which is delivered on a part-time basis over one semester. The course content includes: Common critical care presentations; Appraisal of the critically ill animal; Emergency nursing skills; CPCR; Current practice in veterinary emergency and critical care.
