Hide-The programme at its core provides the students with strong theoretical and applied knowledge in the areas of: Finance; Financial Reporting; Taxation; and Auditing. The quality of these modules are evidenced in the generous exemptions from the professional accountancy bodies. These core skills are complimented with:

(a) a suite of digital skills where the student is introduced to accounting, payroll and reporting software, computer assisted audit techniques and the opportunity to gain professional excel accreditation. Alongside these practical skills the module places an emphasis on cyber security and the emerging technologies that are shaping the role of the accountant, with the key message being technology is changing the role of the accountant, not replacing it.; and

(b) broader professional skills in the form of professional business ethics and a module dedicated to professional communication and work placement preparation. The student will take part in our employability series where we will assist them in the preparation of their C.V., linked-in profile and interview skills as well as exposing them to events around employability, personal branding and the opportunity to listen to guest speakers in the industry.

On successful completion of the programme, grades permitting, the student will have gained 4 additional ACCA professional exam exemptions, 3 CPA and 4 CIMA and have the opportunity to progress to level 8 Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance (The level 8 programme provides a total of 9 ACCA exemptions, 10 CIMA, 10 CPA and be exempt from CAP 1 of the Chartered Accountancy exams, as well as exemptions with the Institute of Tax).

This level 7 programme leaves its graduate employment ready, excellently placed with respect to professional accountancy exemptions and with a strong suite of industry relevant IT skills.

Hide-Auditing and Assurance
The aim of this module is to introduce the student to the concept of auditing and the environment in which it operates and to provide an understanding of the auditing process in a logical and sequential manner, enabling the student progressively to consolidate their understanding of the audit concepts and processes. Knowledge of audit objectives, risks and controls knowledge of each of the major accounting cycles, will enable the student to build a comprehensive audit programme including substantive tests associated with audit conclusions and audit reporting.

Business and Capital Taxes
This module aims to provide students with a good working knowledge of Capital Gains Tax, Value Added Tax, Corporation Tax and Income Tax for businesses. It aims to extend students’ knowledge of Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax gained in the previous semester. It aims to provide students with the ability to compute an individual’s, and company’s liability to Capital Gains Tax, the liability of a business to VAT with a focus on the international aspects of VAT, and a company’s liability to Corporation Tax. It aims to further student’s knowledge of sole trader’s income liable to Income Tax.

International Financial Reporting 3
This module aims to build on the knowledge of accounting concepts, terminology, principles acquired in previous Financial Accounting/reporting modules. In particular, students will build on their knowledge of the requirements of International Financial Reporting Standards and the application of the standards to the preparation of limited company financial statements including cash flow statements.

Financial Management
This module aims to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of the theoretical foundation and framework for Financial Management. It aims to provide students with transferable analytical skills that can be applied in various business scenarios.

Accounting in the Digital Age
The aim of this module is to enable the accounting practitioner to understand the continuing impact of digital technologies on their sector. A component of the module is to develop critical skills in information management for decision making.

Organisational Psychology
The purpose of this module is for students to gain a broad understanding of work psychology and the context within which it operates.
Professional Communications & Employment Preparation
The focus of this module is employability. It is intended that students will be enabled through practical application to create and or enhance their C.V.'s and gain interview, communication and presentation skills. With the global expansion of businesses and cultural diversity, there is an increase in demand for graduates with excellent communication and presentation skills.

Accounting Information Systems
This module aims to provide students with an understanding and application of computerised Accounting, Payroll and Accounts Production software packages.

International Corporate Finance 1
This module aims to build on the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in Financial Management and give students an appreciation of the key strategic issues affecting company finances.

Advanced Personal Taxes
This module aims to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of personal tax. The module emphasises the advanced issues affecting personal Capital Gains tax and Income tax liabilities. Capital acquisitions tax is also studied in detail as well as introducing students to some basic tax planning techniques.

Group and company financial reporting 2
Module Aims: To continue to develop the students understanding of the concept and principles of a group. To provide students with a detailed knowledge of the preparation of consolidated financial statements. To discuss and apply the International Financial Reporting Standards dealing with group companies. To introduce further accounting standards and develop the application of these standards.
