The aims of this module are to develop an understanding of theory of group dynamics both collectively and individually and to explore the range of facilitations styles and interventions. It will also introduce practical facilitation and presentation skills and build on the participant’s ability to critically reflect on their own knowledge, skills and experience both as group participants and group facilitators.
On completion of this programme, students should be able to:
• The learner will have knowledge and understanding of the basic concept of group work & facilitation skills;
• The learner will be able to discuss group work and facilitation skills and identify their own individual style;
• The learner will be able to Identify their personal skills and understand any potential challenges they may experience as practitioners in community development;
• The learner will know how to implement effective approaches to group work and facilitation skills in community development;
• The learner will have the basic study and research skills necessary for third level;
• The learner will be competent in planning, reading and referencing necessary for third level;
• The learner will research and write an academic assignment and a group project;
• Have a good knowledge of what is required for study at third level.
