Entry Requirements |
Applicants must complete an application form and submit it to the college of their choice by the end of May. Applicants must have a Level 5 Certificate in Horticulture or three years’ experience in a relevant area of horticulture and provide a letter of recommendation from their current employer. |

Landscape Design & Construction (Level 6 Component Award – QQI 6N3620)
For those already employed in the landscape sector, this course will provide you with the knowledge to plan a landscape project and to take that plan to the design, specification, and construction stage. The course will help develop a better understanding of design principles of gardens, and how a range of garden features are constructed. |

• Explain the importance and use of plant materials in design
• Evaluate structural components of landscape features and how they work together, for example walls, steps and paving
• Implement the design process in full for a given design including the building of a range of garden features

Progression
This award is a component part of the Advanced Certificate in Horticulture programme offered at the College of Amenity Horticulture, Glasnevin and Teagasc Kildalton College, Co. Kilkenny. On completion of this course, students can undertake further part-time or full-time courses or perhaps travel abroad on some of the College sponsored internships where they can work and learn with some top class landscape gardeners. |
