Further information

The majority of National Learning Network programmes are open entry, which means that you can start at any time of the year.

We will be happy to advise you of the details of your course when you meet with us.

All of our courses are free to students. They are funded by the Education and Training Boards or the HSE.

Do I keep my benefits?
Yes. You will keep the financial benefits you currently have. You should contact the secretary at your local centre if you have any queries regarding benefits.

NLN will offer you supports that will not only help with your training but can assist you in relevant aspects of your life. You will hold onto your current financial benefits and in addition you may obtain a training allowance from SOLAS or the HSE.

Access
This foundation programme is designed for young adults with mild learning difficulties. The courses in Bray and Stillorgan have been specifically designed for young people and school leavers.

The programme is designed to provide a mix of social skills, personal effectiveness, career exploration and vocational skills sampling (facilitating students to sample a range of work options and settings) which will help them to make realistic choices for further training and employment based on their individual strengths and abilities.

Literacy and numeracy needs are also addressed as appropriate to each student. Opportunities to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and competencies learned in the training centres are identified within the community. This supports students to participate fully as active citizens in their own locality and move towards living independently.
