This course covers the practical and theoretical requirements for certification by MTU. Certification requires that a candidate provides evidence of competence in the construction, operation and maintenance of pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems through practical tasks and by meeting knowledge criteria.

1 year, Part-time, Blended.
Course Delivery
One evening per week for one academic year, one module per semester.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must have at least two years of relevant industrial experience and should have obtained their Leaving Certificate or an appropriate craft/technician qualification.
What is RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is when formal recognition is given for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module. With recognition of prior learning the focus is on learning and not on experience as such. You can apply for RPL in any MTU accredited programme or module. Programmes which are accredited by professional bodies or any external awarding bodies may have their own procedures for RPL which you should refer to.

Funding Options Available
The course cost is normally €1950 however a 40% subsidy from Cobotics Skillnet is currently available to eligible applicants. This reduces the course cost to €1170 (a saving of €780).
In order to avail of funding you must be working in the private sector. Public sector workers are not eligible for Skillnet funding.
All private sector businesses of any size, including sole traders, that are based in the Republic of Ireland are eligible to undertake part-funded upskilling with Skillnet Ireland.
Please note: the company must be paying the course fee. Funding is not available to individual applicants.

The course also covers PLC programming to a high standard of achievement allowing students to programme training rigs and develop knowledge of industrial Mechatronic installations.
