Tourism with Business
This one year full-time course provides students with the necessary skills for direct entry into a wide range of employment including Banking, Insurance, Commercial, and Service industries, HSE, Public Service and Local Government.

Duration
1 Year. September - May.
This is a full-time one-year course (3 Days per week - Mon to Wed) and runs from September to May.
Entry Requirements
• It is preferable for candidates to have a relevant QQI Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) in a business related area or relevant life experience.
• Interview
• Mature applicants welcome
• Applicants whose first language is not English will require a competency as stated in our admissions policy.
• Ukranian applicants should have a certificate of complete secondary education (after grade 11) or higher.

Progression to Higher Education
Graduates may gain entry to Third Level Institutes and Colleges through the QQI Higher Education Links Scheme. Graduates from this course may also apply for advanced entry straight into second year on a number of business related courses at ATU Galway.

An Articulation Agreement between IT Sligo and Sligo College of Further Education is in place which provides an advanced entry route for students with a QQI Level 6 in Tourism with Business award into year 2 of the B.Bus in Tourism with Event Management Level 7. This is subject to student quotas.
Please note that all QQI Further Education graduates who hold a major Level 5 or Level 6 award are eligible to apply for any IT Sligo programme through the CAO system.

The maintenance grant is means tested and the award of a grant amount is the responsibility of http://www.susi.ie/.
You will be called for interview in March, April, May or August, depending on which course you have applied for. Following your interview, you will be offered a place, placed on a waiting list or advised of other course options.

Advanced Certificate in Tourism with Business - 6M5012
This one year full-time course provides students with the necessary skills for direct entry into a wide range of employment including Banking, Insurance, Commercial, and Service industries, HSE, Public Service and Local Government. Students must have completed a linked QQI Level 5 course. Students will have the opportunity to advance to management and administrative positions within these organisations.
This course is designed to help students develop the essential skills and techniques which form the basis for a career in industry, commerce or the public service. The course comprises both theoretical and practical modules, and students will gain an understanding of Business Management.
Certification: QQI Level 6 Award in Tourism with Business (6M5012).
