The main aim of the programme is to introduce students to the discipline of psychology, and to provide them with an understanding of human development. Students will be encouraged to explore its relevance to the individual, family, community and society.

Entry Requirements
Mature applicants (i.e over 23 years)
or
Leaving Certificate Grade O6 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Two of these subjects must be Mathematics and a language (English or Irish)
or
QQI Level 5 Full award with a minimum of eight modules. or Recognition of Prior Learning (APL/APEL)
Careers / Further progression
Progression from the Certificate in Psychology programme is on to the level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Psychology programme which is a full-time programme. Entry criteria to this bachelor is based on an interview covering individuals relevant work experience (typically in the psychology field in excess of 5 years) and Recognition of Prior Learning, a curriculum vitae and completion of the Certificate in Psychology programme.
