Motor Technology
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence required to independently and under supervision carry out diagnostic, maintenance and installation
procedures on electronic and mechanical components utilised within the motor technology sector and or to progress to further or higher education or training.

Duration
This is a one year, full time course running from September to May.
Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied. For mature students (over 23) these requirements need not apply and applications will be considered based on a proven interest in the motor trade. Places are limited and entry is subject to interview.

Mayo College of Further Education & Training is offering no tuition fees for September 2026, which covers exam fees, student consumables, and journals. This includes courses across campuses in Ballina, Castlebar, and Westport, aimed at relieving the cost of living crisis. Some specific courses or materials might still have costs, but tuition is free.

This one year Level 5 QQI course in Motor Technology provides a foundation in Motor Technology Studies and provides the opportunity to progress to employment or further study in the Motor Technology area. The course contains a mix of practical and theory elements with trips throughout the year. There is an opportunity to partake in Erasmus+ placements.
