This 1 year, full-time course is aimed at those who enjoy sport and would envisage themselves gaining employment in the area. Learners who successfully complete this course will gain essential knowledge and skills that could lead to immediate employment or progression to a higher level for those interested in attaining managerial-level positions in sport and recreation.

Entry Requirements
Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

• Award holders may apply for a place on the Advanced Sport and Recreation Level 6 course at LCFE.

Further information
There are no tuition fees payable to the College by EU nationals. However, learners are liable for registration and examination fees. Registration fees vary depending on programme choice. Applicants will be informed of individual programme fees and possible exemptions at interview.
Means-tested Student Maintenance Grants are available to qualifying learners. The administration of these grants was handled by the former Vocational Education Committees (VECs) up to the 2011/12 academic year. A new ONLINE ONLY grant applications system was introduced in the 2012/13 academic year. All applications have to be made online to Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI), the single Awarding Authority for all new student grant applications, through www.susi.ie. The Sports Department at Limerick College of Further education has grown significantly in size over the last number of years due to the huge demand for courses in the Sports, Exercise and Fitness sector. The varying number of courses offered at the college allows the learner to gain knowledge in a number of areas such as, coaching, instructional skills in teaching exercise and fitness classes, IT Skills, confidence and knowledge to lead groups in a wide variety of fitness situations. Depending on the area of study Sports Department graduates are prepared for further progression opportunities and employment.
