This is a one year course which consists of intensive training in the skills and education required for the Hairdressing Industry with the option to continue for a further year to a higher level of hairdressing in Sligo College of FET.

• Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent
• Interview
• Mature applicants welcome
• Applicants whose first language is not English will require a competency as stated in our admissions policy.
• Ukranian applicants should have a certificate of complete secondary education (after grade 11) or higher.
• If the course becomes oversubscribed, priority will be given to students who intend to complete the full award.

Career Opportunities
Sligo College of FET is a major provider of courses for the Hairdressing Industry including training for apprentices for Junior Trade and City & Guilds international diploma (Senior Trades). Upon successful completion of this course, students may gain placement as a Senior First Year Apprentice in a high-profile hairdressing salon or progress to Year 2 Hairdressing in Sligo College of FET.

There are no fees to study this course, however, students will have to purchase some additional items when undertaking this course such as;

• Makeup Kit
Details of cost & supplier will be provided during interview and induction.
The maintenance grant is means tested and the award of a grant amount is the responsibility of http://www.susi.ie/.
You will be called for interview in March, April, May or August, depending on which course you have applied for. Following your interview, you will be offered a place, placed on a waiting list or advised of other course options.

Hairdressing with Junior Trades - 5M3351
This is a one year course which consists of intensive training in the skills and education required for the Hairdressing Industry with the option to continue for a further year to a higher level of hairdressing in Sligo College of FET. Our award winning hairdressing team provide training in the fully-equipped college hairdressing salon. Our work experience programme offers students the opportunity to further develop their skills in selected and approved hairdressing salons.
This Course is Designed to
• Equip the learner with the knowledge and practical skills required for a career as a trainee hairdresser.
• It is the perfect induction to the basics in hairdressing and can open a world of opportunity into the world of hairdressing.
