This one-year advanced qualification has been developed for people who wish to pursue a career in the voluntary, community and health sectors and this course prepares learners for progression to higher education. The courses offers a comprehensive programme of tuition and work-based education. The work placement must be completed in an appropriate Social Care setting.

Entry Requirements

You should be at least 17 years of age.

One references must be uploaded to your online application page.

Leaving Certificate standard is required; or Pass Level (120 credits) in the Leaving Certificate Applied. Individual courses may have specific additional requirements. These will be outlined in the course descriptions for each course.

Relevant work experience or training will be considered.

QQI Level 5 Major Award (or equivalent) in a related area e.g. Health Care Support 5M4339, Community Care 5M2786, Youth Work 5M4732, Applied Social Studies 5M2181, Early Childhood Care and Education 5M2009.

All full-time day courses are €50. This is a non-refundable registration charge.

Students undertaking any full time Further Education course may apply for a means tested maintenance grant. Application forms are available from www.susi.ie. Students from designated disadvantaged partnership areas may be eligible for financial assistance towards course charges.
