Applicants whose first language is not English will require a competency as stated in our admissions policy
This course requires participants to be Garda vetted. Continued participation on the course and work placement is dependent on the successful completion of this process

This course prepares students for employment in a wide variety of care services such as:

Community Care services
Residential Settings for people with physical and intellectual disabilities
Day Care Centres and Homecare Agencies
Within these services there are many work opportunities for example Health Care Assistant, Multi-Task Assistants and Support Worker.
Progression
Following on from Health Service Skills Level 5 there is direct progression onto Health Services Supervisory Management Level 6 in Tubbercurry Campus. This course prepares you to work in a supervisory role in a range of healthcare services.
Graduates may gain entry to Third Level Institutes and Colleges through the QQI Higher Education Links Scheme
Further information
Students taking Further Education Courses are eligible for PLC maintenance grants. These grants are means tested and depend on individual financial circumstances. All grant applications are handled by SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland) www.susi.ie
