The course is designed to meet the needs of those working in human resources/training and development or for someone aspiring to a career in the discipline. The course also attracts line managers, supervisors and team leaders who wish to gain people management skills.

Course Delivery
Year 1
Semester One – Mondays & Wednesdays, 6pm – 10pm
Semester Two – Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 6pm – 10pm
Year 2

Year 3
Tuesdays & Thursdays 6pm – 10pm
Please note that students in Year 2 & 3 are required to attend lectures and workshops on some Saturdays during the Semester.
Dates will be advised in advance. This degree has an embedded award at Level 6 whereby all students who successfully complete year 1 of the programme will be awarded a Certificate in HR Management and Development.
Entry Requirements
The minimum requirements are Grade D3 (ordinary level) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate, to include Mathematics and either English or Irish. Mature students will be considered on an individual basis. This course is offered on a modularised basis and requires participants to attain 60 credits in each year.
What is RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is when formal recognition is given for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module. With recognition of prior learning the focus is on learning and not on experience as such. You can apply for RPL in any MTU accredited programme or module. Programmes which are accredited by professional bodies or any external awarding bodies may have their own procedures for RPL which you should refer to.
Careers / Further progression
Progression
Graduates of this degree are eligible for membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIDP).
Graduates from the BA in Human Resource Management can progress to BA (Honours) in Human Resource Management or to the Honours Bachelor of Business via 30 credits of bridging studies modules over one academic year.

SUSI Grant
This course is eligible for funding under the SUSI grant scheme.
Students must be completing a minimum of 30 credits per annum but not more than 50 credits to be eligible for funding.
