Further information

Course Overview
This programme is for students progressing from the AU242 Construction (Common Entry) who wish to specialise in Architectural Technology from Year 2 of their studies.

Architectural technologists work with architects, engineers, and others in designing and developing plans, drawings, and costs for buildings, and supervising construction projects.

Architectural technologists are key professionals in a multidisciplinary design team. Their roles have become increasingly important in developing and delivering construction solutions using emerging technologies and building techniques, playing their part in the global implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM).

The standards and techniques used in modern construction are constantly evolving; architectural drawings are increasingly produced using 3D software; building legislation strives to ensure the protection of the environment and the public are becoming more discerning in their appreciation of architecture. The aim of this programme is to produce graduates with an in-depth knowledge of construction technology and detailing who have high level skills and competencies required to work as Architectural Technologists.

There is a year-long work placement in Year 3 as part of this programme to give students some hands-on experience and apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting.
