Duration
The course will run 1 x night per week, Thursday from 6pm - 10pm for 30 weeks. Delivery will be blended.
Healthcare - 2 x modules only
The first module will be delivered in our Autumn 2026 term and the second module will be delivered in our Spring 2027 term.

Entry Requirements
Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must have certification of a competency of B2 in reading, writing, listening and speaking on the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFRL). Proof of certification shall be required.
Please note if your nationality is from outside the European Union (EU), you will be required to provide proof of a Valid Stamp 4 with Valid GNIB Number or if you are currently in Direct Provision you will be required to provide a copy of your Temporary Resident Card along with a Labour Market Permission Letter as issued by the Department of Immigration/Foreign Affairs

Course Aim:
The Intellectual Disability Studies module aims is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the causes, range and effects of intellectual disabilities to develop an awareness of the importance of a social model of support and the role of various professionals in responding to the needs of persons with an intellectual disability.
The Activities of Living Patient Care module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to provide holistic care for older people in a variety of care settings working under the direction and supervision of nursing and/or midwifery staff.
