Entry Requirements
Education: Applicants should have a Junior Cert (or equivalent) as a minimum and a standard of knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies to engage in a programme of learning at NFQ Level 4.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course. Good verbal and written command of the English language is required. Applications whose first language is not English, require a minimum English Language and Literacy competency of B2 in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and may be required to complete and English Language Test.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative. Previous experience in a salon is advantageous.

Please note if your Nationality is from outside the European Union (EU), you will be required to provide proof of a Valid Stamp 4 with Valid GNIB Number or if you are currently in Direct Provision you will be required to provide a copy of your Temporary Resident Card along with a Labour Market Permission Letter as issued by the Department of Immigration/Foreign Affairs.

Note - Students under the age of 25 who are receiving Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) or Jobseeker's Benefit (JSB) may be eligible for a top-up payment while participating in this course. Both applicants who are eligible and those who are not eligible for the training allowance may still receive support to cover travel or subsistence costs.
This programme is ideal for candidates who are interested in the Beauty Therapy sector and wish to pursue a career in this area. It will run in the Gweedore Training Centre. It is a full time programme - Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 3.45pm, Friday 9.30am to 1pm.
The ITEC Beauty Therapy Awards listed in this programme focus on a range of practical skills and underpinning knowledge required in the Beauty Therapy Industry.
The aim of this training programme is to enable students to acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes to work effectively as a beauty therapist. The programme aims to enable the student through practical experience to integrate the theoretical and practical aspects of working in the beauty industry.
This course is designed to provide occupational competence at Level 2 (NFQ L4) and Level 3 (NFQ L5) in additional areas such as Holistic Massage and Gel Polish Techniques, thereby offering a core qualification and additional training in services within the wider beauty services industry.
Also included are 1 day courses in - Advanced Makeup, Biab/efile, eyelash lift and intimate waxing.
This course includes the following iTEC qualifications:
L2 Diploma for Beauty Specialist (iBT2D7 / 603/4034/4)
L3 Diploma in Holistic Massage (iCT3D8 / 603/4097/6)
L2 Award in Gel Polish Techniques (iBT2A10 / 603/4063/0)
In addition applicants will receive:
1. Advanced Makeup - 1 day - Guest Speaker/Industry expert - Certificate of attendance
2. Biabe/eFile - 1 Day - Cert of attendance
3. Eyelash lift - 1 Day - Cert of attendance
4. Intimate Waxing – 1 Day
