The overall aim of the programme is to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in hairdressing theory, practice and skills to gain recognised qualifications as well as enhance their career opportunities in the hairdressing industry.

Entry Requirements
Education: The Level 2 Diplomas/Certificates/Awards in Hairdressing and Barbering are suitable for people who have taken a level 2 or level 1 qualification, and/or have been working in the industry and are looking to accredit their skills and knowledge. These qualifications provide progression opportunities for those with intentions of progressing into a supervisory or more technical role or onto a level 3 qualification. The Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing is suitable for learners who have taken a level 2 or level 3 qualification and/or have been working in the industry and are looking to accredit their skills and knowledge. This qualification provides progression opportunities for those with intentions of progressing into employment or onto further education with City and Guilds or other awarding body.
Aptitude: Interest in working in Hairdressing
Previous Experience: Desirable but not essential
Applicants whose first language is not English, require a minimum English language and literacy competency of B2 in reading, writing, listening and speaking on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and may be required to complete an English language test.
Please note if your Nationality is from outside the European Union (EU), you will be required to provide proof of a Valid Stamp 4 with Valid GNIB Number or if you are currently in Direct Provision you will be required to provide a copy of your Temporary Resident Card along with a Labour Market Permission Letter as issued by the Department of Immigration/Foreign Affairs.
Your eligibility and potential offer of a place on this programme is subject to students updating the 'My Details' Section of their FETCH Courses Account and answering all questions under the following headings: General, Social Welfare, Education, My Status. Failure to do so will result in your place offer being withdrawn.

Those in receipt of a Social Welfare Payment may be eligible to receive a Training Allowance subject to criteria.
N.B. Students under the age of 25 in receipt of JSA/JSB may be eligible for a top-up payment whilst participating on this course. Applicants not eligible for the training allowance may receive support with travel/subsistence costs.

Work placement is a core feature of this programme designed to facilitate the enhancement of employability and transversal skills.
On successful completion of this course students will have achieved City & Guilds L2 Diploma in Women’s and Men’s Hairdressing and have the opportunity to progress to employment in the hairdressing industry and/or progress to further education or training.
