Entry Requirements
It is desirable that applicants have participated in primary and post primary education.
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest and some basic skills in the subject, and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
Applicants must complete an informal interview to determine suitability for the course.
Careers / Further progression
This course prepares students for employment in a wide variety of care services such as:
• Nursing Homes
• Hospitals
• Community Care services
• Residential settings for people with physical and intellectual disabilities
• Day Care Centres and Homecare Agencies.
There is also the option of progression to higher education degree courses in Applied Social Care, Social Care Practice, Social Sciences, Early Childhood Studies and Community Youth Work.

Course is free but there may be some minor costs for occasional expenses like fieldtrips, personal equipment, registration for external awards and other related items.
