The aim of the course it to combine theory and practical industry experience to provide a solid understanding of architectural technology, design & Computer Aided Drawing to prepare the individual to enter employment within the industry.

Entry Requirements
Education
NFQ Level 5 in a relevant discipline when accessing a Level 6 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 6 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.
Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experiences
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to exercise initiative and independence when carrying out course activities.

On successful completion of the QQI Level 6 award in Architectural Technology and Design learners can progress onto higher levels of the National Framework of Qualifications and could progress onto courses such as:

Graduates are eligible to apply through CAO to third level degree courses.
Individuals maybe eligible for direct entry to year 2 in some universities for example Level 7 or 8 in Architectural Technology.
On successful completion of this course individuals will have a recognised QQI level 6 qualification and valuable work experience in Architectural and Engineering Technician roles which will increase opportunities for employment in this industry. Many individuals are offered employment form their work placement.

Individuals must complete an application form to be accepted on this course. Application forms will be sent to the applicants once you apply.
Applicants will be asked to provide an example of drawings, construction project or scale model to demonstrate their suitability for the course. It is not essential to provide this however it does demonstrate their genuine interest in the subject area.
The aim of the course it to combine theory and practical industry experience to provide a solid understanding of architectural technology, design & Computer Aided Drawing to prepare the individual to enter employment within the industry. Individuals will also have student membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and Certificates in Autodesk Certified User Accreditation (ACU) in AutoCad and Revit.
The course will commence in September, comprising of 26 weeks of theory and practical experience in Monaghan Institute which also includes field trips throughout the year and 11 weeks of work based learning with local employers.
This traineeship is fully funded so there are no course fees. There are additional financial supports of Training, Meal and Travel allowances and Access to the National Childcare Scheme.
In supporting students to successfully complete this Traineeship we also offer a laptop loan scheme, financial scholarships/funds, all of Monaghan institute facilities including the Library and access to variety of dedicated learner supports.
Applications are welcome from those in existing employment who are seeking to upskill or reskill into this industry.
On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to work independently preparing drawings and specifications for building projects and or to progress to higher education and training.
In addition to the QQI Level 6 Major award in Architectural Technology & Design individuals will have the opportunity to complete Safepass, and will have gained valuable work experience within their work placement. Individuals will also have student membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and Certificates in Autodesk Certified User Accreditation (ACU) in AutoCad and Revit.
Individuals will also have the opportunity to gain additional Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and Adobe qualifications as well as workshops in Environmental Sustainability.
As part of the programme there will also be a number of industry relevant trips and Expos to increase industry awareness.
