The MIC Ability Pathways (MAP) Project aims to provide a pathway to meaningful community engagement for people with intellectual disability, in an inclusive third level environment which has an established history of educational excellence and community inclusion.

Entry Requirements
Prospective entrants must:
Be 18 years of age on enrolment
Have been identified as having an intellectual disability from birth or early years
Have a commitment to ongoing learning and personal development
Have three or more Level 3 QQI Minor Awards (including Literacy and/or Communication components), or equivalent
Have not previously participated on or completed the CGLPD programme at MIC

The MIC Ability Pathways (MAP) Project aims to provide a pathway to meaningful community engagement for people with intellectual disability, in an inclusive third level environment which has an established history of educational excellence and community inclusion. The project aims to provide education, training and meaningful employment opportunities for people with an intellectual disability who are committed to lifelong learning.

The MIC Ability Pathways Programme (MAP) Project is about re-imagining and re-thinking education and learning outcomes for students with intellectual disabilities, by providing an opportunity to study in a third-level college.
The MIC Ability Pathways (MAP) Project is designed to support the academic, social and personal development of programme participants.
There is a particular emphasis placed on supporting learners to develop transferrable skills in the following areas:
Information Communication Technology
Communication
Teamworking
Citizenry
Personal Effectiveness
The MAP project will provide an Educational Foundation in years 1 and 2 and a Transitioning Programme in year 3, which will enable learners to become active members of their communities and fulfil their personal life goals by transiting to further education and training and/or employment, subsequent to the educational foundation of the project.
The educational foundation will be provided through the Certificate in General Learning and Personal Development (CGLPD), which is a two year fully accredited level 4 QQI award on the NFQ. This CGLPD encompasses 8 distinct modules, which have been designed to support the holistic development of learners with ID and is underpinned throughout by the UDL framework.
