Engineering - Pre-University
Engineering is a dynamic and diverse profession, covering areas such as mechanical, civil, electrical, computer, biomedical and more. Engineers are creative problem solvers who design much of the world around us, from life-saving technologies to sustainable energy solutions. As the field continues to evolve, many future engineering roles do not yet exist, making it an exciting area to study and work in. This course introduces students to engineering and prepares them for further study at third level.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of this course gain a strong foundation in engineering and are well prepared to pursue degreelevel study. QQI award holders are eligible to apply for Level 7 and 8 degrees at universities and technological universities across the country, including TU Dublin, Trinity College, DCU, UCC, DKIT, MTU, ATU and TUS. Students are also well placed to secure apprenticeships in various engineering sectors. In addition, QQI Level 5 graduates can apply for a wide range of non-engineering degree courses at technological universities and some universities nationwide.

Many areas that future engineers will work in have not yet been created, which results in a very exciting sector for an individual to study and work. For those who wish to engage on a career in engineering, this course aims to prepare the student with an understanding of the field of engineering and will prepare students for entry into third level, through a range of practical and theoretical subjects.
