Course Overview
There are many production pipelines in industry that require content developed for specific purposes. Game assets will differ from feature animation for example; SFX and compositing assets will differ from AR/VR content. This Postgraduate Certificate however reconciles these forms of content creation and teaches the similarities and differences in creating for each.

The pathway through the course will allow the student to decide to focus on pipelines and technologies related to industries such as games animation, special effects or the emerging AR/VR market. The Semester 1 modules will allow for content to be created to fit into each of these pipelines while offering a grounding in the differences involved for each. The course will inform the process from concept development for specific industry pipeline right through to integration into various real-time and pre-rendered platforms used by sector leaders. New and emerging asset pipelines will also be explored such as augmented reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) content creation.

The programme aims to provide participants with the ability to:
• Develop their creativity in the area of 3D modelling.
• Learn the tools needed to advance into the 3D field.
• Learn how industry standard pipelines work and where specific people sit in a production setting.
• Explore new technology and how it will shape the future.
• Experiment with new and emerging 3D technologies.
• Create new solutions to problems and new experiences for consumption.

Year 1:
Semester 1:
3D Modelling and Sculpting (M) 10 ECTS
3D Texturing and Rendering (M) 10 ECTS

Semester 2:
Emerging 3D Technologies (Research) (M) 5 ECTS
Emerging 3D Technologies (Development) (M) 15 ECTS

The assessment for this certificate is 100% project based. There will be continuous assessment throughout and marks will be awarded at different milestones during project development.
