Nursing Studies Pre-University
This one-year course prepares students for roles in hospitals, respite care, social and community services, or residential settings. It develops essential communication, social, and caring skills, supported by practical work experience. Ideal for school leavers and mature applicants, the course provides both academic and hands-on foundations for entry into nurse training.

Careers / Further progression
Graduates can progress to nursing degrees in areas such as General, Psychiatric, Mental Health, or Children’s Nursing at universities across Ireland. They may also seek immediate employment in hospitals, community care, or healthcare settings. The expanded QQI links programme offers access to nursing courses in institutions like DCU, UCD, Trinity, TU Dublin, SETU Carlow/Waterford, Maynooth University, TUS Athlone, MTU Tralee, DkIT, ATU
(GMIT/St. Angela’s/Letterkenny), NUIG, UL, and UCC. This qualification also supports entry to Social Care/Social Studies degrees. Additionally, students can apply for nursing programmes in Northern Ireland (Ulster University) and the UK, including the University of West London, Edge Hill, Southampton, Staffordshire, Liverpool, Wrexham, Bath, South Bank, Edinburgh, and Bangor, where strong links exist.
