All our classes are delivered in English. If English is not your first language you may be able to avail of supports in advance of starting a full-time course. We work in partnership with our colleagues in Adult Education Service who run an ESOL and preparation for college course(s) which you may be able to attend in advance of your full-time studies. This one-year level 5 course is an excellent preparatory course for those wishing to pursue a career in applied social care. It can also be used as an access course to Higher Education. Students who successfully complete the course may progress to employment, or further studies on a Level 6 Social Care or higher education courses.
Social care is ‘people’ focused and involves providing professional care and protection to vulnerable individuals and groups such as children, youths or adults including those with additional needs.
Those who successfully complete the course may find employment as care workers in:
• Residential Services
• Child and Family Agency
• Homeless Services
• Addiction recovery centres
• Home care for the elderly
• Disability services and more…
