Entry Requirements
Full QQI Level 5 award in Horticulture or other relevant award.
Mature students are exempt from Leaving Certificate requirement.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English.
An offer of a place on this course is contingent on the applicant meeting the requirements set out here and satisfactory presentation at interview.

The QQI Level 6 Sustainable Horticulture / Permaculture Award provides a strong base for developing professional skills in market gardening, nursery stock production, tree and shrub management, sustainable landscape design, leadership and entrepreneurship.
Learn to design real world sustainable landscape using tools such as syntropic agroforestry, permaculture orchards, nutrient dense abundant market gardens, Korean Natural Farming, soil building techniques, creating wetlands systems and diverse nursery set ups. Learn to lead community projects or start your own eco-friendly business while being part of a thriving class community.
Students are given the opportunity to visit a wide range of different commercial enterprises, including successful market gardens and nursery businesses and related permaculture enterprises where inspiring sustainable landscapes can be experienced.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Participants will be required to undertake 220 hours of work placement in a suitable area. The college will assist participants in identifying suitable placements.
