SETU Carlows RPL Policy offers clear pathways to the learner for recognition of previous learning undertaken and offer every credit to the learner in completing such learning.
The Programme Board will be responsible for the assessment of entry standards and applications as part of any RPL Process.

Extended Campus
Extended Campus (EC) at SETU Carlow works with organisations in the design, development and validation of customised programmes relevant to industry and employer needs. Programmes are often designed to bridge a gap that currently exists and or to support the future needs of an organisation and are offered through flexibly delivered timetables that fits into work life and avoiding long commutes to and from the classroom.
Work Measurement and Methods Engineering are long-established subjects that are still highly valued, particularly, but not exclusively, in manufacturing industry. They deal with the skills of systematic recording and critical examination of existing and proposed way of performing work, as well as establishing standard times for completing prescribed tasks at a defined level of performance.
The aim of this programme is to introduce students to the skills of Work Measurement & Methods Engineering. Students will become familiar with the processes to establish standard times for operations, to plan outputs, to form and re-form work groups, to balance workloads, to plan delivery times, and to control costs.
The skills training will include both theory and practical elements.Graduates of this programme will be eligible to progress to the Certificate in Work Measurement and Methods Engineering, Level 8 Special Purpose Award programme.
Who is this Programme for?
Students must be working in a manufacturing industry or have previous industry experience. All students on this programme will be required to have at least a Level 6 qualification with significant work experience. Applicants without a Level 6 can apply using the Recognition of Prior Learning route and will be considered on a case by case basis.
Online Support
Students will have full access to a range of supports available online and through Blackboard, our virtual learning environment. These include our new online programme, PACE, which is designed to support students to access and effectively use library resources in order to complete assignments. Additional supports include an Academic Writing Centre and Maths Support Centre, freely available to all students.
