• Interpret the principles and provenance of investment fund regulation.
• Discuss the role of governance in the oversight of investment funds.

The programme will be delivered online, one evening per week. Candidates will receive practical training in Excel, Eikon and portfolio selection techniques. The programme will provide candidates with insights into some of the core elements of the operation of regulated investment funds in Ireland.

The Ireland for Finance 2025 strategy notes that it is important to advance coordination between industry and third-level institutions to support the development of skills and innovation in financial services.

In the South East, there is a strong demand for individuals with skills in fund administration. The roles in demand include: risk & compliance professionals, fund accountant and associate accounting roles. In the same report, employers identified skills shortages and a need to upskill staff in the following disciplines: fund accounting, regulation, risk & compliance, presentation skills and intermediate Excel. This certificate will provide graduates with the skills to access these types of roles.

As there is a dearth of funds education in the South, South West and South East, it often a lack of industry awareness among undergraduates and recent graduates. Industry partners have expressed a difficulty in attracting and retaining talent we believe that by creating this certificate as a gateway to the funds industry for recent graduates and others looking to up-skill, we will improve job readiness and enhance the attractiveness of participants to these thriving industry partners.
