This one-year Level 6 is an immersive experience in recording, managing and running a recording studio. It is a oneyear full time course consisting of both practical and theoretical training. Learners will have the opportunity to record, mix and produce bands, performers and artists in our state of the art recording studios on LCFE campus. It is an ideal add-on for our Level 5 students who wish to receive more hands on studio time with project management and web authoring modules furthering career opportunities. It is also perfect for anyone with relevant experience or past students who wish to top up their skill level.

Previous Experience: Have completed a QQI Level 5 or equivalent in music

Applicants should have a QQI Level 5 qualification in music or a music related subject and an interest in music theory and practice.

There are no tuition fees payable to the College by EU nationals. However, learners are liable for registration and examination fees. Registration fees vary depending on programme choice. Applicants will be informed of individual programme fees and possible exemptions at interview.

Means-tested Student Maintenance Grants are available to qualifying learners. The administration of these grants was handled by the former Vocational Education Committees (VECs) up to the 2011/12 academic year. A new ONLINE ONLY grant applications system was introduced in the 2012/13 academic year. All applications have to be made online to Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI), the single Awarding Authority for all new student grant applications, through www.susi.ie. QQI Award Code 6M20602)
This one-year full time course in Advanced Music Studies is designed to provide the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge of music theory, performance, and recording and aims to give participants an introduction to the core concepts, principles and systems pertinent to practitioners in the performing arts. The programme will provide learners with the opportunity to develop a broad range of conceptual, practical and factual knowledge relevant to key areas of performance. In addition the course will offer the learner the opportunity of developing a range of knowledge and skills across a broad spectrum of the performing arts industry.

On successful completion of this course learners will be awarded a 120 credit QQI level 6 Major Award in Music.

• To guide learners to apply their musical knowledge in practical, real-world contexts.
